This toaster does everything it is advertised to do. One warning…the outside gets VERY HOT! I guess that’s why some toasters are encased in plastic (which I thought I wanted to avoid, but now understand the purpose for). The Haier LOOKS great, though (blush-!). My other disappointment is that it is made in China (I was assuming and hoping it was USA-made, since it’s a US company, but that seems to mean little anymore). And thirdly, (and I knew this before purchasing), both sides heat up even when you only need to use one side. I was worried about thick bagels fitting, since some reviewers commented on that, but so far no problems. All in all, if I had it to do over again, I think I’d get another Cuisinart…since they’re both made in China anyway. At least I’d have the option of a one-side toast (energy efficient), and wouldn’t have to worry about surface heat. Am I hard to please?? Yup.
